Damage Assessment:

The process of assessing the damage to physical assets e.g. building services, environmental controls, key documents and technology to determine what can be salvaged or restored and what must be replaced.

Data:

Electronic information stored on a computer or device

Data Backup:

A process by which electronic information is copied and available to be used if the original information is lost, destroyed or corrupted.

Data Protection:

Statutory requirements to manage personal data in a way that does not threaten or disadvantage the person to whom it refers.

Deadline:

A point in time when critical activities must be recovered in order to continue to provide product / services to customers

Denial of Access:

The inability of an organisation to access and / or occupy its normal working premises

Dependencies:

The reliance, directly or indirectly, of one business activity or process upon another business

Deputy:

A person providing backup at a time when the primary person is unavailable

Disruption / Disrupted:

An event, whether anticipated, (e.g., a public service strike or hurricane), or unanticipated, (e.g. a blackout or earthquake), which disrupts the normal course of business operations

Duplicate:

More than one copy available at any one time, (one copy securely stored offsite on a data backup facility)
